I'd love to do something for the 4870X2's but i don't have the $$$ to buy one.

Cheerssandwichamwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02166618600183294061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-36044793899230509132008-10-03T07:50:00.000+10:002008-10-03T07:50:00.000+10:00Hi sandwichamwin!I'm from Germany so my english wo...Hi sandwichamwin!

I'm from Germany so my english would be probably not as good as your's.

Well, today, a few minutes ago, i did this volt-mod on my HD4870.

It worked really fine and i'm very happy about that.
My card didnt crashed ! :-P

Your tutorial is really nice and easy to read (for a german guy^^).

So, maybe i can help you a bit.
Your photos aren't the best ones, so i made some photos myself and hope, they'll help you.

I would say, they are much better than your one's ^^

Ok, here are the links:
(but: 5-7mb per photo!)

V-GPU Mod:
http://www.abload.de/img/vgpu_overviewo3z.jpg
http://www.abload.de/img/vgpurvk.jpg

GPU-Measure Point:
http://www.abload.de/img/measure_vgpu_overviewmbv.jpg
http://www.abload.de/img/measure_vgpu_bigp96.jpg
http://www.abload.de/img/measure_bigvv6.jpg

Trimpot and On/Off-Swichter:
http://www.abload.de/img/trimpot_jumperz2r.jpg

Card-Overview:
http://www.abload.de/img/card_overviewpnw.jpg

I know, it's "only" the V-GPU mod, but i do not need more.
Memory is stable 1100-1150 Mhz, bute the GPU produces artefacts @ 865 Mhz .....

So i decided to do the voltmod (cause i got full-cover-watercooling) and keep pushing volts until i get the 900Mhz ^^

I hope these photos are okay,
mfg
foxxxAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-16937005139456033112008-10-02T03:08:00.000+10:002008-10-02T03:08:00.000+10:00Thanks for replying. 950 mhz is a very good mark I...Thanks for replying. 950 mhz is a very good mark IMO, wish I can reach it...

I was using Crysis Warhead to test my overclock and I was unable to get past 825 mhz on GPU without getting Vista error message 'Display driver stopped responding.....' aka VPU recover on XP, althought I can run ATiTool at 860/4200 @ 1.35v with no artifacts. Maybe it's a display driver issue? Tried on XP SP3 too, but got the same issues on Warhead.

BTW I'm using stock cooling.

RegardsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-13703787142559094802008-10-01T09:21:00.000+10:002008-10-01T09:21:00.000+10:00I never actually tried the memory vmod myself. I ...I never actually tried the memory vmod myself. I installed it, but never got a chance to experiment. What cooling are you using? I only ever used watercooling and I too found myself hitting an overclocking wall at around 950mhz.sandwichamwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02166618600183294061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-48685347003872551392008-09-23T13:00:00.000+10:002008-09-23T13:00:00.000+10:00Hello, very good stuff, thank you!Do you think mem...Hello, very good stuff, thank you!

Do you think memory vmod is necessary to achieve higher gpu frequencies? I did just the vgpu mod, and regardless the voltage is use (tried up to 1.38v), I can't past 825 mhz stable on gpu.

Thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-47675004060677514632008-09-10T05:51:00.000+10:002008-09-10T05:51:00.000+10:00Thank for the quality assurance review, i intend t...Thank for the quality assurance review, i intend to pack two 4850s with these into a matx crossfire configuration and get to some voltmodding hopefully. Only decent coolers that look like they'd fit!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-73485533654950044782008-08-13T17:40:00.000+10:002008-08-13T17:40:00.000+10:00Fantastic guide sandwichamwin- Doday I'll be doing...Fantastic guide sandwichamwin- Doday I'll be doing my first hardmod ever, and make sure to bring the results to your blog. I would not add too much voltage though.

Just like a cpu, temps will raise as you add more voltage.sandwichamwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02166618600183294061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7985695140034645708.post-5103334854410037492008-07-13T09:04:00.000+10:002008-07-13T09:04:00.000+10:00Seems really simple - Would these be possible unde...Seems really simple - Would these be possible under air?

Because they're all the one GPU chip - The temps would stay pretty regular, I'd assume.reijinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00342523451522958318noreply@blogger.com
